Dr. Sarah L. Stone is a board-certified psychiatrist with nearly 20 years of medical and clinical experience and the founder and Medical Director of Anew TMS in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her approach combines compassionate, individualized psychiatric care with a strong commitment to scientific evidence, informed by her training in medicine, psychiatry, epidemiology, biostatistics, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Dr. Stone earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine in 2007 and completed her psychiatry residency at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. A significant portion of her medical training took place within the Veterans Affairs healthcare system, where she gained experience caring for veterans and developed insight into the complex mental health needs that can accompany military service.

She holds a Master of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Angelo State University. This background gives Dr. Stone a strong foundation for critically evaluating medical research and determining whether emerging treatments are supported by meaningful clinical evidence.

Since March 2025, Dr. Stone has practiced outpatient psychiatry with Caskey Medical Group in Santa Fe, evaluating and treating adults with conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, dementia and other cognitive disorders, and additional mood and psychiatric conditions.

As the body of research supporting TMS for depression continued to grow, Dr. Stone became increasingly interested in bringing this noninvasive treatment option to Santa Fe, a community she has called home since 2020. TMS uses targeted magnetic stimulation to influence areas of the brain involved in mood regulation and can offer another option for patients who have not experienced sufficient relief from traditional treatments.

In 2025, Dr. Stone completed the Duke TMS Course, an intensive clinician training program sponsored by Duke University School of Medicine that included both didactic education and hands-on training in the clinical administration of TMS.

In the spring of 2026, she founded Anew TMS, part of Pinnacle Medical Laboratories, with the support of Dr. John S. Caskey, MD, to make high-quality, physician-led TMS treatment available to the Santa Fe community.

As Medical Director, Dr. Stone oversees every patient's course of treatment. She personally evaluates patients before TMS begins, determines whether treatment is appropriate, selects the treatment protocol, performs motor threshold mapping, and provides ongoing physician oversight throughout care. Each treatment plan takes into account the patient's psychiatric history, previous treatments, current symptoms, goals, and individual circumstances.

Dr. Stone believes effective psychiatric care begins with listening. Scientific evidence provides the foundation for treatment, but every patient brings a unique history and experience. Her role is to combine medical expertise and careful clinical judgment with a thoughtful understanding of the individual in front of her.

She is especially passionate about helping people living with depression who have tried medications, psychotherapy, or other approaches without experiencing the improvement they hoped for. Anew TMS was created to offer another evidence-based path forward—and renewed possibility when previous treatments have not been enough.
