The shortest treatment isn’t automatically the right treatment
Your diagnosis, medical history, previous treatments, goals, and the evidence supporting each protocol all matter.
WHAT DOES ACCELERATED MEAN?
More treatment in a shorter period of time.
Traditional TMS generally delivers one session per treatment day. Accelerated protocols deliver multiple TMS sessions in the same day, separated by prescribed intervals.
This allows treatment to be concentrated into a much shorter period without requiring anesthesia or hospitalization. You remain awake during treatment and can generally resume normal activities afterward.
WHY CHOOSE AN ACCELERATED TREATMENT?
For some patients, time matters.
A several-week course of treatment isn’t practical for everyone. Work, caregiving, travel, transportation, or simply the burden of attending daily appointments can make traditional treatment difficult.
Accelerated TMS may allow eligible patients to receive treatment within a much shorter window while still receiving individualized, physician-directed care.
Common Questions
-
The main difference is how treatment sessions are scheduled.
Traditional TMS typically involves one treatment session on weekdays over several weeks. Accelerated TMS delivers multiple sessions within a shorter period of time, allowing treatment to be completed much more quickly for appropriate patients.
At Anew TMS, we offer traditional treatment as well as accelerated options, including 5-day and certain 1-day treatment pathways. Dr. Stone will determine which protocols may be appropriate for you.
-
You don’t need to make that decision on your own.
Dr. Stone will consider your diagnosis, symptoms, previous treatments, medical history, treatment goals, schedule, and the available clinical evidence when recommending a treatment approach.
For some patients, a traditional course may make the most sense. Others may be appropriate candidates for an accelerated option.
-
Many insurance plans provide coverage for TMS for eligible patients with depression, although coverage requirements vary.
Anew TMS can verify your benefits and help you understand any documentation, previous-treatment, or prior-authorization requirements before treatment begins.
-
Coverage for accelerated TMS can vary significantly depending on your insurance plan and the specific treatment protocol.
Our team can review your benefits and explain any coverage requirements or out-of-pocket considerations before you decide how to proceed.

Treatment That Fits Into Your Life
TMS is an outpatient treatment with no anesthesia and no recovery period.
For many patients, it becomes a short, predictable part of the day.
